Cowboy Action Tombstone, Coffin Lid, & 8" Round
Part Number: APCL

MGM Targets Cowboy Auto Poppers These three targets are what have been used at many of the Winter Range, End of Trail, and Beginning of Trail competitions, for shotgun targets. The Tombstone, Coffin Lid, and the 8" round Auto Poppers all come standard with the "foot flag" that so many people shooting light loads have grown to hate! The principle is, when you hit the target solidly, it goes down and the foot flag comes up. The sheriff can see a flash of fluorescent red (or whatever color you choose to paint the bottom of the foot) and confirm that it was a good hit. If he doesn’t see the color, it wasn’t a good hit, and the cowboy gets dinged for a miss. No real cowboys were shooting light loads!

Whirlygig
Part Number: WHIRL

MGM Targets Whirley Gig Target

I've got no clue what a Whirly gig was in the "old" days, but I know what it is today. THIS is a Whirly-Gig, as far as MGM is concerned. I'm fairly sure Terry Ashton in Texas invented this, and I want to make sure everybody knows that. I don't know if he dreamed it up himself, or brainstormed it with somebody, but it is one of the most incredibly innovative and FUN targets we've ever come across!

There are a few things we had to do differently because Idaho doesn't have easy access to some of the Texas oilfield materials that Terry uses, but we think it came out OK. I think you'll like it too.

As you can see from the pictures, we took a completely different approach to the structure. With the laser cutter and 3/8" 500 Brinell steel for nearly all the "shootable" components, we were also able to simplify the target holding system. The .015" kerf from the laser cutter wasn't quite tight enough to hold the target in place when you wanted it to be held, but it was perfect when it came to releasing the target. To solve the problem, we added a single steel spring to the existing bolts. To set up for the next shooter, all you have to do is slide the target under the spring and it will easily fall into the "keyhole" that holds it.

We have a video to give you an idea of how much fun this target can be:

We have a very short video to demonstrate how quick and easy it is to reset a target on the Whirlygig. Multiply that times 5 and you have a reset Whirlygig.

We think this is going to be one of the most popular products around.
