Rappel Tower Rappel Tower Rappel Towers

Rappel Towers and shooting towers are an item that all agencies need, but they aren't as readily available as Pepper Poppers or other targets. Since our background is in heavy and structural steel, it seemed only natural to offer one as a regular product.

The pictures you see are the tower we built in July '04 at Fort Richardson, AK, the White Sands Missile Range, NM (Jan. '04), and the Inclined Wall, also at Ft. Richardson. Each level is floored with grating, but we can pour a concrete floor, if that is what you need. We've got a pretty decent video of the White Sands project. Please call me and I'll be glad to send you a copy of it on a CD.

There are as many options to towers as you can think of. A few that come immediately to mind are:
  • Helo pad on the top (complete with FAA approved lighting)
  • Covered top so you can fast rope out of the helo on to the roof
  • Simulated helicopter strut for Fast Rope practice
  • A "rock" wall all the way up one side, for the serious climber
  • Complete (or partial) glass wall for the "high rise" training
  • Complete or partial wood framed walls with window openings
  • Enclosed and "double back" stair wells for clearing exercises
  • Additional height (you need 200 feet? No problem.)
  • Ballistic (bullet proof) Walls at any location
  • Breaching Doors
  • 36" diameter vertical pipe for close proximity (mine shaft/elevator shaft) rescue training
  • Galvanizing
  • Incorporation of the tower, into an existing Shoot House facility

Rappel Tower Incline Wall

Rappel and shooting towers aren't an item that every agency is going to be able to afford, but every agency needs one. Do your snipers have a clue about shooting up or down at a steep angle? All of your SRT team know how to rappel, but how many of them are really good at it? How often do they get legitimate practice? How long does it take them to get ready? (Knowing how to do something doesn't make you good at it.) How many flights of stairs can your team run up, carrying all their gear? A stair climber at the gym can't duplicate the real thing.

Too many agencies overlook the fact that other agencies in their vicinity can and will help cover the cost of something like this. Additionally, there are grants available for range improvement. The more people that use a particular piece of equipment or facility, the more likely you are to get the grant.

Regarding cost, we are in the $200K range, depending on height, options, and your geographic location. Engineering considerations such as earthquakes, hurricanes, soils conditions, ground water, etc. have to be addressed for each specific location. This is a chunk of money, but I guarantee your boss will be delighted after he sees it. Sometimes when an agency "saves" money, and ends up with a piece of junk. At that point, everybody associated with the project is embarrassed, and the higher up the ladder you go, the more embarrassing it is. "Why did we waste our money.....Who is responsible....." That won't happen here. Everybody associated with this project is going to be a hero.

As with all of our more significant equipment, MGM will handle it. All of it. Our people will come and do a soil analysis; we'll then design the footings and foundation to accommodate all the above mentioned variables (i.e wind, earthquakes, etc.) When the engineering is finished, we'll come in and do the excavation, soils prep and compaction, concrete and anchor bolt forming and placement. We are usually looking at about 60 days, start to finish, but we can make it happen sooner if time is critical for you. When we go on a job like this, we take all the people we need. (We don't go to a temp agency when we get there, and hope to find someone smart enough to run a Crescent wrench.) Our soils and structural engineers are licensed in all 50 states. Our concrete people are concrete people every day. Our ironworkers are hanging iron as you read this. Our crane operators are certified, and are flying steel every day.

My job is to make your job easy. When you are ready for something like this, I'd be honored if you'd give me a call. I'll send you a set of blueprints, and provide you will all the technical support you'll need to get the project approved.

Shoot House 360 Live Fire Shoot Houses
  • SHOOT HOUSE
  • DYNAMIC ENTRY TRAINER
  • LIVE FIRE SHOOT HOUSE
  • KILL HOUSE

No matter what you called it, it was all the same. Until now. Once again, MGM has changed the rules about how a traditional product has been manufactured. And we've probably knocked $100 Grand off any other price you've been quoted. And we Still have the best product.

Envision a 3,000 square foot shoot house, 2,000 feet on the ground floor, with 1,000 feet on the second floor, built on a 50' x 100' slab, with the traditional roof structure. Sounds just like Brand X's product, right? That is where the similarities between us and them ends.

The entire 2nd floor is moveable! You can position it over the north end, over the south end, or centered over the main floor. You can have it completely OFF the main floor, so it acts like a carport. And one man can do it with the push of a button while everyone else is topping off their mags. The second floor has 2 sets of stairs on it. Each of them can be raised up and not used at all, or they can be lowered into any one of 5 different locations, inside OR outside the main floor. We can come up with at least a dozen significantly different main floor/second floor/carport combinations, that can be easily changed in less than 10 minutes with no tools. These aren't light duty stairs either. Each one of them could easily support a 10 man entry team.

Shoot House

Our 3/8" thick armor plate wall panels are lined with 2" thick ballistic rubber to prevent splatter from coming back at the shooter. Unlike some systems that require replacement of the plywood or other liners, we can simply rotate shot up panels into locations that get little wear. This could be done several times over the years and should provide panel life of up to 12 years before new ones have to be purchased. We are comfortable mentioning this life span because we did a live fire test (you know, real bullets, real guns, etc...) on a piece of our rubber, and a piece of our competitor's rubber. 1,000 rounds (350 .45 ACP and 650 9mm) into an area 6" x 6" on a piece of 2" thick rubber. Side by side, same bullets, same guns, same day... If you need them, I'll be glad to send a copy of the pictures to you. Was there a "tremendous" difference in the products? No. Was there a noticeable and significant difference in the products? Absolutely.

We've got Ballistic Windows. Normal houses have windows. How can your training be realistic with out them on your shoot houses? Without talking in circles, suffice it to say that your entry team can look and GO through the windows, but no bullets are going to get out of the training area.

To go along with the shoot house, please take a look at our 270 Degree Doorway Pop Out Target. These mount around the corner, so to speak, so it is impossible for your people to shoot them, and they don't render one of the rooms unusable, like some of the traditional doorway pop outs. Additionally, they can be activated with a passive infrared beam, by the instructor pushing the button, or by remote control from 300 yards.

Shoot House

MGM can make the floor plans anything you want, and we can make the square footage anything you want. The entire system is modular, so if your erection site is in Zimbabwe or anyplace else, we'll send you a bolt together system that anybody with a double digit IQ will be able to assemble. If you want to go for a less expensive system, we can line ours with 1/4" rubber. It gets the job done, but when you can afford it, you'll want to go with the good stuff.

If a shoot house is in your future, please give us a call. We'll be glad to provide a firm fixed price, for a shoot house that will meet your exact specifications. And for a lot less than you expect. NOTE: In our price list, we call our Shoot House a Dynamic Entry Training Facility.

Optional features:
Low/No light conditions, Moveable walls, Ballistic Doors, Ballistic Windows, Portable Bullet Traps, and more. Please call, and we'll send you a sample plan with more info. Your Budget people will be glad you saved them money, and you'll be glad you bought the best there was!

ATTENTION:
There is a lot of published nonsense out there about shoot houses, and frankly, I'm amazed that the publishers think the consumers (that would be you) are dumb enough to swallow it. I'm not going to badmouth any of my competition, but would respectfully request an opportunity to provide you with facts. We have done more testing (with real bullets) than most of them, and can prove that plenty of that published material belongs at the bottom of a bird cage. If you'll give us the opportunity to talk with you, I'm confident that we'll be working for you on the project.
