Wounded Warrior Project

To my understanding, the Wounded Warrior Project is a group of people who are working to make a real difference in the lives of severely injured veterans, as they try to adjust to their new challenges. Please take a moment to visit them at the above website. As you do so, remember that the reason you are reading this in freedom is because men and women have bled, and died to keep us as individuals, and our country as a whole, safe. If you are a veteran, it is my honor to thank you for your service to our country. If you are not a veteran, please go back to the WWP website, sign up, and make a donation. Talk is cheap. Put up, or shut up. If you truly appreciate what our military protectors have done for us, you’ll make a donation. Or volunteer. Or write some “thank you” letters. Or go to your local Veteran’s Hospital and thank some of the servicemen there in person. Thank you.

As a man 54 years of age, the only regret in my adult life is that I did not take the time to serve in the Armed Forces. Many gracious veterans have assured me that our country can be served in other ways, and that what we do at MGM certainly fits into that category. I genuinely appreciate their efforts to console me, but I have a tough time legitimately comparing a firefight in Iraq to welding in Idaho.

As a renegade outside the box thinker, I’m always looking for a way to make an honest buck. Through the years, and our association with the GSA and other federal government procurement efforts, we have encountered a phenomenal number of business opportunities. It has occurred to me that ANYONE willing to make an honest effort can make a very comfortable living from their home office. I’m not a greedy person, but I figure, “if you’ve got to work, you’d just as well get paid for it.” Life is short. Find work that will pay a good return on your time investment. (All “good returns” aren’t necessarily related to money.)

I can’t begin to imagine what it would be like to loose a leg, an arm, or an eye. No amount of money would be worth the trade. But I can help you get set up in business for yourself. I’m not going to bankroll your business, because I don’t have the money to do that. If I did have the money, I probably wouldn’t do it, because most people place little value on something that was free to them. I can and I will tell you how and where to get started. Why would you want to do that? Self respect. To make sure your family is taken care of financially. To fill in the holes that government health care leaves open. To make a better living than you might make elsewhere. To help other wounded warriors, or anybody else that you are able to help. Pay it forward.

The Wounded Warrior Project is a triage effort, so to speak. They make an immediate difference in thousands of lives, right now. I thank God that He has put this work on their hearts, and that they have been obedient to follow His instructions. The WWP will help individual veterans for weeks or months. The “jobs” I am offering to help with will be long term projects - something that you could do for the rest of your life, if that is what you wanted to do. Or retire early, if that is what you wanted to do.

The plan is simple, and you really don’t even need me to show you how it works. In short,

  1. Peruse through the government bid advertisements.
  2. Find something of interest that 1) is so off the wall that you don’t think anyone else who might bid on it will know about it, (like monitoring the Fairy Shrimp population at Camp Pendleton) or 2) you have a little background in that area (the government needs 1,100 pairs of cross country skis, boots, etc., and you are/were a skier).
  3. Find a vendor or contractor who can provide the service, get a firm quote from them, and add on 10%. Or 30% if that is what the market will bear.
  4. Submit the quote, and follow up with it. If you are awarded it, you hire the contractor/vendor to do the work. You’ll baby sit them to make sure it is done according to the bid documents. Just ask the right questions.
  5. Repeat. The law of averages tells us that sooner or later, you’ll be awarded a few contracts. The more you bid on, the greater your chances of being awarded contracts.

If you need money tomorrow, don’t even consider this. Ain’t gonna’ happen. It is NOT one of those things you see on TV where somebody is saying “I bought $50 million worth of property when I was unemployed, and you can do it too!” With this, you’ll probably spend 4-24 hours putting together a quote that is due 3 weeks in the future. The government will take 2-90 days to analyze and award it. It might take 2 weeks, or 2 months to get the thing rolling, to the point where you can submit an invoice. AFTER you submit the invoice, you’ll get paid in 30-45 days. BEST case, it will be 5-6 weeks after you receive an award before you get paid. Worst case, it could be 6 months for all the pieces to come together, before you can even submit an invoice. The challenge here is to be quoting on projects on a regular basis (at least a couple a week) to get the pipeline filled, so to speak. 6-8 weeks after that, assuming some degree of success, you should be getting an electronic funds deposit to your account on a sporadic basis.

BEFORE you go into business for yourself, it is my strong recommendation that you get all the education that the government will pay for. Whether or not you are going to be a business owner or manager, good background and knowledge are invaluable. The quickest place to get that is in college. If the government is going to pay for it, I’d recommend it. If you go, don’t waste your time. Treat it like your future depends on it. Glean every piece of information from the instructors that you can. Separate out the liberal, fascist, socialist non-sense, and keep the rest. Keep your text books for future reference. WORK at it. Some people just aren’t cut out for college. You don’t need a college degree to be a success, or to go after the projects that I’m talking about, but you can never have too much knowledge. Anybody can learn about business on your own like I did, but why take 30 years to do what you can do in about 4? Be smart about this!

There are lot’s of people, both veterans and non-veterans, who have no business being self employed. Why? Lack of motivation, no self respect, no integrity, no honor, laziness, a trust fund or gigantic inheritance, etc., etc., etc.. If you aren’t one of those people, we may be able to be of service to you. I’m not going to solve all your problems. I will show you how to accomplish in a month or two, what it took me 13 years to learn. No strings attached, No charge. Why am I doing this? Because I can. God has used other men to bless me, and now it’s your turn to be blessed. Pay it forward. I’m not a baby sitter, but I am available to give you some direction and guidance. I have no interest in helping someone who has no work ethic, and no interest in bettering their circumstances. I don’t care what your injuries are, if your brain works, you can do this. If you aren’t passionate about this, please don’t waste my time. If you are a liar or a thief, don’t call. If you see yourself as a victim, I can’t help you. Being a survivor might not be enough. You need to have a victory mindset. If you are serious about making a better life for yourself and for your family, it would be my honor to help you get started.
